Bright Morning Star

Bright and morning star

10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. 11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 12 And, zbehold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take sthe water of life freely. 18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. 20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
  17 And I will wait upon the LORD,
  That hideth his face from the house of Jacob,
  And I will look for him.
  18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me
  Are for signs and for wonders in Israel
  From the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

  19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits,
  And unto wizards that peep, and that mutter:
  Should not a people seek unto their God?
  For the living to the dead?
  20 To the law and to the testimony:
  If they speak not according to this word,
  It is because there is no light in them.
  21 And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry:
  And it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves,
  And curse their king and their God, and look upward.
  22 And they shall look unto the earth;
  And behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish;
  And they shall be driven to darkness.
  9Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation,
  When at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
  And afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea,
  Beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
  2 The jpeople that walked in darkness have seen a great light:
  They that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
  3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy:
  They joy before thee according to the joy in harvest,
  And as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
  4 For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder,
  The rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
  5 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise,
  And garments rolled in blood;
  ||But this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.
  6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:
  And the government shall be upon his shoulder:
  And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God,
  The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
  7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end,
  Upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom,
  To order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice
  From henceforth even for ever.
  The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

  8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob,
  And it hath lighted upon Israel.
  9 And all the people shall know,
  Even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria,
  That say in the pride and stoutness of heart,
  10 The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones:
  The sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
  11 Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him,
  And join his enemies together;
  12 The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind;
  And they shall devour Israel with open mouth.
  For all this his anger is not turned away,
  But his hand is stretched out still.

  13 For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them,
  Neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.
  14 Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail,
  uBranch and vrush, in one day.
  15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head;
  And the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.
  16 For athe leaders of this people cause them to err;
  And athey that are led of them are adestroyed.
  17 Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men,
  Neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows:
  For every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer,
  And every mouth speaketh ccfolly.
  For all this his anger is not turned away,
  But his hand is stretched out still.
  18 For wickedness burneth as the fire:
  It shall devour the briers and thorns,
  And shall kindle in the thickets of the forest,
  And they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.
  19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened,
  And the people shall be as the fuel of the fire:
  No man shall spare his brother.
  20 And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry;
  And he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied:
  They shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
  21 Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh:
  And they together shall be against Judah.
  For all this his anger is not turned away,
  But his hand is stretched out still.

Acts 10:9–16
9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: 10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, 11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: 12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. 13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. 14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. 15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. 16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

Luke 5:30-39

30 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? 31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. 32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
33 And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink? 34 And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? 35 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. 36 And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. 37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. 38 But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. 39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

Deuteronomy 4:1-14

4 Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you. 2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. 3 Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baal-peor: for all the men that followed Baal-peor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you. 4 But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day. 5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it. 6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. 7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for? 8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day? 9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons; 10 Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children. 11 And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness. 12 And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; †only ye heard a voice. 13 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone. 14 And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it.

Christ the power of the Lord and the wisdom of the Lord

1 Corinthian 1:22-31

22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Filled with wisdom
Luke 2:36–52
36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; 37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. 38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem. 39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth. 40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. 43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. 44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. 45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. 46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. 47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. 48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. 49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? 50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. 51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and pstature, and in favour with God and man.
